Project overview
We are upgrading the gas pipes along Eagle Way to ensure you continue to receive a reliable gas supply for many more years to come. Our aim is to replace all the metallic mains and service pipes in these locations. This means that we will need to excavate holes in the ground to access the gas pipes in order to inspect and replace them.
We anticipate the project duration to be 10 weeks. If any changes are required, we will keep you informed.
Due to the nature of the work involved, we have planned to deliver it in a number of phases to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption.
Phase 1 - Replace approximately 100m of the existing gas pipe. This phase will be completed under three-way traffic lights.
Phase 2 - Replace approximately 100m of the existing gas pipe. This phase will be complete under a road closure on Essex Way.
Phase 3 - Replace approximately 93m of the existing gas pipe. This phase will be completed under two-way traffic lights.
Phase 4 - Replace approximately 45m of the existing gas pipe. This phase will be completed under four-way traffic lights.
Phase 5 - Replace approximately 85m of the existing gas pipe. This phase will be completed under four-way traffic lights.
Phase 6 - Replace approximately 52m of the existing gas pipe. This phase will be completed under two-way traffic lights.
Phase 7 - Replace approximately 158m of the existing gas pipe. This phase will be completed under four-way traffic lights.
Phase 8 - Replace approximately 95m of the existing gas pipe.
Phase 9 - Replace approximately 43m of the existing gas pipe.

Project updates
1 November - 11:00
The team has completed second phase of the project and will continue working up until 24 November before returning to complete the project in the new year.
23 October - 12:40
Work began on 16 October and the team has been completing preparatory work and digging excavation for the first first two phases of the project.
Tomorrow the first 100m section of the existing pipe will be replaced and the area will be reinstated following this.
