Fryerning Lane, Ingatestone

Start date: 26 July 2021

Duration: 6 - 8 weeks

Project manager: Dave Bamber

Local delivery partner: Forefront Utilities

Project overview

We are upgrading the gas pipes along Fryerning Lane to ensure you continue to receive a reliable gas supply for many more years to come.

Due to the nature of the work involved, we have planned to deliver it in a number of phases to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption.

Work will start from Ingatestone Infant School and will move up the road towards the junction with Blackmore Road and Mill Green Road. This will be done in five 100m phases. We anticipate that each phase will take one week to complete.

We have liaised with refuse collection parties and can confirm that access will be maintained for collection on Tuesdays.

Our customer team has been on site and visited properties along the next 200m phase of the project to explain how they will be affected by the work. If you weren’t able to speak to them, or have any queries, lease don’t hesitate to get in touch.

28 July - 15:30

A top cutter machine will arrive on site tomorrow, Thursday 29 July, to cut a 100m trench along the first phase of the project. The machine will arrive on site between 07:00 - 08:00 and we expect work to begin at 09:00.

Please note that there will be other machinery on site during the day.

Access will be maintained for residents and deliveries.

27 July - 15:10

We are pleased to confirm that the plant and materials have arrived on site today as scheduled, and that we have been able to start marking the ground up to indicate where the different services lie. For your interest, red marks indicate electricity cables, blue indicates water, white are telecoms cables and yellow are gas pipes. Just so you know, we use soluble paint to mark up so in due course the marking you see will disappear.

Tomorrow, 28 July, we will be boring trial holes to establish the location of the gas main. Excavation itself will start on Thursday 29 July. Depending on the findings, the first set of customers will also be carded with dates indicating when gas supplies will be affected. You can talk to our teams for more information if required.

We attach below a couple of photos taken in Fryerning Lane so you can see what’s happening if you are not in the immediate area.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns.
