Project overview
We are upgrading the gas pipes along Deepdene, Maltings Chase and High Street to ensure you continue to receive a reliable gas supply for many more years to come. Our aim is to replace all the metallic mains and service pipes in these locations. This means that we will need to excavate holes in the ground to access the gas pipes in order to inspect and replace them.
Due to the nature of the work involved, we have planned to deliver it in a number of phases to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption.
Phase 1 - Replace approximately 112 of existing gas pipe on Deepdene.
Phase 2 - Replace approximately 51m of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting opposite property number 114 and moving down to the junction with Norton Road. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Phase 3 - Replace approximately 61m of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting at the junction with Norton Road down to the junction with Post Office Road. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Phase 4 - Replace approximately 22m of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting at the junction with Post Office Road down to the junction with Cameron Close. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Phase 5 - Replace approximately 74m of existing gas pipe on High Street, starting at the junction with Cameron Close down to the junction with Deepdene. This phase will be completed under a road closure.
Phase 6 - Replace approximately 89m of existing gas pipe on Maltings Chase. This phase will be completed under multi-way temporary traffic lights.

Project updates
12 August - 13:45
This week we inserted the new pipe into the current section of the project. We hope to complete all engineering work next week so that reinstatement work can be completed the following week.
4 August - 16:30
Whilst we plan our work carefully, sometimes we encounter unforeseen difficulties once we’re on site. This week we’ve had to delay the insertion of the new pipe, as we’ve found that the existing pipe is deeper underground than expected. This means we’ve needed some extra equipment to ensure that the deep excavation is reinforced and safe.
We will keep you updated as work progresses next week.
29 July - 11:25
Engineering work on phase 2 of the project is due to be completed today. Reinstatement work will take place over the weekend ready for phase 3 to start on Monday.
21 July - 16:00
This week the team has been working on replacing the smaller pipes that feed gas into properties along Deepdene. The insertion of the new plastic pipe into the main existing pipe is due to take place tomorrow. Reinstatement work to fill in the holes will be completed on Tuesday.
Phase 2 of work on High Street will begin on Monday.

We can now confirm that the local delivery partner working on this project is Terrafirma Pipeline Ltd. Work began today as planned and we will keep you updated as the project progresses.

Today we created this new website for our customers in order to help us stay in touch. As the project progresses, we will continue to publish documents and general project updates as they come along.
