Project overview
We are upgrading the gas pipes along Mount Avenue, Chestnuts, Kandlewood and Hillwood Grove, to ensure you continue to receive a reliable gas supply for many more years to come. Our aim is to replace all the metallic mains and service pipes in these locations. This means that we will need to excavate holes in the ground to access the gas pipes in order to inspect and replace them.
Due to the nature of the work involved, we have planned to deliver it in a number of phases to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption.
Phase 1: 12 - 18 September 2022
Replace approximately 168m of existing gas pipe along Mount Avenue starting at Roundwood Avenue to the junction with Kandlewood.
Phase 2: 19 - 25 September 2022
Replace approximately 113m of existing gas pipe along Mount Avenue starting at the junction with Kandlewood to the junction with Hutton Gate.
Phase 3: 25 September - 2 October 2022
Replace approximately 142m of existing gas pipe along Mount Avenue starting at Hutton Gate to Hillwood Grove. A road closure will be in place on Mount Avenue at the junction with Hillwood Grove.
Phase 4: 3 - 9 October 2022
Replace approximately 245m of existing gas pipe along Mount Avenue starting at the junction with Hillwood Grove to the junction with Chestnuts.
Phase 5: 10 - 16 October 2022
Replace approximately 150m of existing gas pipe along Mount Avenue starting at the junction with Chestnuts to no. 67 Mount Avenue.
Phase 6: 17 - 23 October 2022
Replace approximately 111m of existing gas pipe along Mount Avenue starting no. 67 to no. 77 Mount Avenue.

Project updates
27 October - 09:55
The work on Mount Avenue is now complete and the team are working on the last two phases of work on Heron Way. We anticipate that they will be on site for another three weeks.
23 September - 15:15
The second phase of the project on Mount Avenue is now complete and the temporary road closure will move along the road next week. Phase 2 of work on Heron is now partially completed, whilst digging the team found that the existing gas pipe is much deeper underground than plans indicated which has caused a delay.
The team has been working on phase 4 of the project and this will be completed tomorrow.
16 September - 15:10
The first phase of the completed today as planned, 281m of the existing gas pipe has now been replaced. Next week we will be implementing a full road closure, this will be in place from Tuesday.

Today we created this new website for our customers in order to help us stay in touch. As the project progresses, we will continue to publish documents and general project updates as they come along.
