Stanley Hill, Amersham

Start date: 24 July 2023

Duration: 6 weeks

Project manager: William Sadler

Local delivery partner: Stanmore Quality Surfacing Ltd

Project overview

We are upgrading the gas pipes along Stanley Hill to ensure you continue to receive a reliable gas supply for many more years to come. Our aim is to replace all the metallic mains and service pipes in these locations. This means that we will need to excavate holes in the ground to access the gas pipes in order to inspect and replace them.

Due to the nature of the work involved, we have planned to deliver it in two phases to maximise efficiency and minimise disruption.

Phase 1 – 24 July 2023

This phase will be completed under a road closure with multi-way lights at the junction of White Lion Road. A full road closure is necessary due to the location of the existing gas pipe which is beneath the white line in the middle of the road.

A temporary pedestrian crossing be in place outside of St George’s C of E Infant and Preschool.

Phase 2 – 31 July 2023

The second phase will be completed under a road closure from Stanley Hill Avenue to corner of Stanley Hill.

Phase 3 – 14 August 2023

The final phase will be completed under multi-way traffic lights.

Throughout the project access to driveways will be maintained where possible. Where this is not possible, we have agreed with Amersham that residents can use their car park during this time.

Please note that parking will be available on a first come first served basis and any vehicles and their contents are left entirely at the owners risk.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during our work.

11 August - 09:40

Re-surfacing work will be undertaken by Buckinghamshire Council will begin on 17 August, this work will be completed within the current road closure.

04 AUGUST- 11.00

Phase 2 of the project is now complete. This week the team replaced 140m of existing gas pipe, this included twenty- two of the service pipes that feed gas into properties within this section. Please be advised, during the weekend the team will be clearing up and preparing for the reinstatement stage.

Next week, phase 3 of the project will begin. To minimise the traffic as we move into phase 3 of the project, we have agreed with Buckinghamshire Council to keep the road closure in place whilst we work past Stanley Hill Avenue with temporary traffic lights. The traffic light heads will be positioned on Stanley Hill Avenue, Stanley Hill and Salisbury Close.

To safely manage this section, we would kindly ask all residents to enter/exit from the White Lion Road roundabout end from Monday 7th August as we will need to permanently close the section before the traffic lights.

Buckinghamshire council will be starting the re-surfacing once we have competed our works starting from the White Lion Road roundabout working down Stanley Hill.
